The original flavor for Sturgis Beef Jerky was developed by the Gapp family around 1964.  Beef rounds were purchased to trim and slice on a slicer and then cut by hand with a knife. The unique flavor was developed thanks to the help of many of the neighborhood school kids who stopped by the store and helped taste-test until the perfect blend was discovered. Thanks to those kids, Sturgis Jerky still makes some of the best jerky adding additional flavors over time including Peppered and Teriyaki.  We are a favorite for bikers who come every year for the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Local ranchers and military personnel enjoy our our meat products, and school kids still enjoy our unique flavors.
